Today our Port Everglades Cruise Terminals 2 & 4 Parking Garage team is erecting a pedestrian bridge 5 stories in the air over an active passenger terminal. You might not be able to tell from the photos, but when complete, this bridge will be equivalent to about 2 football fields in length and required about 713 tons of steel (equal to about 5,000,740 McD’s Quarter Pounder burgers.. that’s a LOT of burgers!). The crane used to assemble the bridge is one of the largest mobile cranes in the country. Due to its size and weight it cannot be moved without being disassembled and then put back together every time. Once completed, the pedestrian bridge will feature 2 moving walkways and provide Port Everglades cruise passengers easy access between the cruise terminals and the parking garage. Looking good, team! Keep up the phenomenal job! You’re making us all proud!

With the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting daily life, including sending millions home to work remotely, office workers across the country are having to navigate new ways of connecting with colleagues they no longer see in-person every day. Here at Pirtle we faced a similar challenge when the majority of our staff started working remotely from home, but we didn’t let this disconnect us or affect our culture. Instead, we found new fun ways to stay connected. One of these is a weekly virtual “Bingo & Beers” night where everyone got a chance to catch up, relax, and enjoy a fun game and a cold beverage. In fact, we now have our very first Pirtle Bingo Champion - congratulations, Merrie, your Bingo game is strong! ... See MoreSee Less

The Pirtle team is hard at work and making significant progress on Site 80 High School for Orange County Public Schools. As we continue our essential work, we are focused on jobsite safety because now, more than ever, it’s crucial to return our employees and workers home safely at the end of every day. Pirtle’s “Safety First” approach includes enhanced safety measures on all of our projects, such as mandatory project and jobsite safety meetings where the team goes over CDC safety guidelines and social distancing measures, extra hand washing stations positioned around the site, as well as taking temperature readings of all employees and workers entering the site each day. We have reacted quickly to this unfortunate pandemic and will remain resilient enforcing our strong safety culture.

Pirtle is working diligently to deliver the new Site 80 High School and the team is making great advancements. As we carry out this essential work, enhanced safety measures are being implemented every day. All of our workers follow CDC and OSHA safety guidelines from practicing social distancing, using proper handwashing stations, standing 6 feet apart, and company meetings have been modified to be teleconference calls. Pirtle Construction has always kept safety a top priority and will continue to do so during these challenging times.

Recently Orange County Public Schools and Pirtle Construction held a groundbreaking for the high school project currently known as site 80-H-SW-4. This is an important project for the School District, but equally as important to the surrounding communities as it will provide much needed relief to two overcrowded nearby high schools. We are proud to have been given an opportunity to build this important project and our team is working tirelessly to ensure its success.
