Safety is paramount to the success of any project. Inadequate safety measures not only endanger lives, but severely impact cost and schedule. They hinder employee morale, hinder communication, and cause problems with neighbors and local agencies. At Pirtle Construction, safety is a top priority. An injury-free workplace is the only acceptable workplace, and we work tirelessly to ensure a safe environment for our employees and subcontractors during every project.
Pirtle Construction Company has become a leader in safety awareness by adopting stringent safety standards that meet or exceed O.S.H.A. requirements and promote increased safety awareness by providing safety education and training programs for any subcontractor or partner that works on a project with us.
- Bill Ellis, Director of Safety is responsible for overseeing the safety standards of Pirtle sites.
- Pirtle does random walkthroughs of all Pirtle sites to ensure they are meeting and exceeding necessary safety standards.
- Pirtle is a C.H.A.S.E. (Construction Health and Safety Excellence) partner with Associated General Contractors (AGC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Pirtle provides 30-hour O.S.H.A training to all project management personnel.
- Pirtle's OSHA recordable incident rate in 2007, 2008 and 2009 was lower than the industry averages.
- Pirtle is a zero-tolerance, drug-free workplace.
- Pirtle has had zero fatalities in our 43 year history.
- Pirtle has been a proud sponsor of the AGC Safety Fair and Expo which promotes and provides free safety training to the Florida construction workforce each year.
Pirtle Construction Company won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the 2010 AGC Safety Fair and Expo. Brent Martin, Project Manager, and Bill Hines, Superintendent, accept the awards for "Best Safety Idea."
